HAPPY TAILS: DOZER (formerly CLIFFORD)!!!!!Michelle and family adopted Dozer from HBR just over a year ago! As he celebrates his first Gotcha Day, we asked his forever family for an update on how he has settled in. This is what they shared: “His favourite thing to eat is Peanut Butter in his Kong as a treat or Denta bones. He LOVES walks…..especially in snow. He is a happy boy as long as his family is around. CUDDLING is his favorite thing to do. He truly believes he is a lap dog however his head weighs more than most lap dogs! He entertains us daily, mostly with his “talking” to us if he is not receiving ALL the attention. He waits for HIS kids school buses every day. Dozer adjusted well and quickly to immediate family members and no issues in the home at all – he was meant to be there all along just travelled other roads to find us. He required a bit more patience with meeting new people as he was very reserved and almost fearful. He has come a long way with new introductions. “When asked for some advice to share with potential adopters, Michelle said: “PATIENCE – no matter why dogs are relinquished they are likely scared and insecure and unsure. Love and structure with a cup of spoiling is what is required! “My kids and I can truly not imagine life without Dozer (and never want to). He saved me as much as I saved him – it was a mutual adoption and he is loved beyond words. HBR is amazing and from start to finish every volunteer I met with was helpful and kind with the best interests of both the adoptee (doggie) and adopter (family)!” Thank you, Michelle, for your kind words and thank you most of all for giving Dozer all the love he deserves! So happy for all of you! Thank you for choosing adoption!
HAPPY TAILS: NOVA!!!
HAPPY TAILS: NOVA!!!!Bill and Tamara adopted NOVA from HBR just over a year ago! As she celebrates her first Gotcha Day, we checked in with her new family for an update! They provided the following: “Nova loves to play tug toy, she also loves to be outside at the beach, hiking or camping, she is a big mamas girl so if mom is doing it she will always join in! She loves to eat puppy ice cream cones and cheese! She really enjoys cuddling with her dog brother or parents! I have to start with she makes us laugh every day with her attitude, when she wants something she will do just about anything to get it! When I am in the shower (it is a tub not walk-in) and I’ll be washing my hair all of a sudden Nova hops over the edge, her belly slows her down and boom she face plants into the shower with me! The first time this happened it scared me but now I have to shut the door or she will join me as she LOVES her baths!!Nova did not have any problems adapting to her new home! We recently rescued a Rottweiler named Shadow and both are loving each other’s company! We are so blessed to have Nova in our lives. She brings us laughter and happiness every single day. Her bulldog personality is large and we will always adopt this breed! We didn’t just save her she was a missing part that our family needed! The process may seem long and that you will never be picked but when you do it is all worth it! Rescuing Nova was an easy process that we would happily do again. Thank you to HBR for making it so easy and enjoyable adding a new member to our family! “We are so happy to hear how well Nova is doing! Thank you for choosing adoption and giving Nova an amazing forever family!
HAPPY TAILS: CASH!!
HAPPY TAILS: CASH!!!Nicknames: Cashie, Cashew, and Bazooka (because of how fast he is off-leash)Kate and Mike adopted CASH from HBR just over a year ago! As he celebrates his first Gotcha Day, we asked the family for an update! They kindly provided the following: What are Cash’s favourite things to do: “Destroying cardboard boxes of all shapes and sizes, snuggling, chewing on sticks and firewood, dragging logs along on hikes, sleeping under blankets with us at night (with his head sticking out in the morning ), and playing fetch and keep-away. Although Cash is a big boy and loves to play, he is scared of things suddenly moving; even paper in the breeze. Late one night at a cabin we rented, a mouse suddenly jumped into the room from a little hole in the wall. Cash leapt off of the bed and ran into the screen-room porch. He didn’t come back until a good 5 minutes after the mouse left. Did Cash have any issues adapting to his new home? Nope. We kept him crated during the day with blankets and toys (and neighbour playtime visits and walks) while we were at work as recommended by his foster mom. Then once he was used to our routine, we let him have free roam of the house. He hardly chewed up anything compared to most puppies/young dogs. Do you have any advice for potential adopters? “Read the bios of the available dogs to get a sense for which would be the best fit your home and lifestyle of everyone that lives there. We knew Cash needs to run around everyday so we get him out for hikes as he *loves* running through the forest at full speed. Daily walks and hikes were already a part of our routine. “”We and everyone who meets Cash love him so much. He’s been a wonderful companion during the pandemic and cute reason to keep working from home. He is one of the most snuggly dogs we have ever met. We’re thankful he was surrendered to a rescue group and that Homeward Bound took such great care of him. This should be the way it is for all dogs in need of a new home.”Thank you so much for choosing adoption! We couldn’t be happier to read this update on CASH! He truly found his forever family!
