HAPPY TAILS: HUDSON!!!HELEN adopted HUDSON from HBR just over a year ago! As he celebrated his first Gotcha Day and 13th Birthday we checked in with Helen to see how he is doing! She provided the following update: FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO/EAT/ENJOY? Sleep, eat, walk, repeat. He has been absolutely ruined by learning we all want to scratch and rub him so he just goes in circles to give us all turns. He is a big boy, at 40lbs but he loves cuddling.FUN/INTERESTING STORY TO SHARE? We almost re-named him Porkchop. He knows exactly which grocery bag has pork in it and doesn’t bother with the other bags but zeroes in on the prize; he has swallowed an entire chop in one bite.ANY ISSUES ADAPTING TO HIS NEW HOME? None. He treats everybody in the house like they are his best friend. He is great with other dogs too, he just gets a little pouty if the new dog is sitting in when he considers ‘hudson’s spot. He will sit and stare at them quietly until one of his humans makes things right again.ANY WORDS OF WISDOM/ADVICE TO SHARE WITH POTENTIAL ADOPTERS? Dogs are a lot like children, they love schedule – they get very excited when they already know what is about to happen next. Yes, they will try to push the boundaries, but in the end they get a feeling of security when they realize you are in charge. And it is even easier when there is an experienced dog in the home already to show the new one the ropes – the new dog learns the schedule even faster. If you are already walking one dog, you know you have another hand right? Every single dog has an amazing spirit, an individual to discover and play with. Many of the dogs we have fostered didn’t have the happiest life before us, but they gained confidence and learned to love again.”Thank you Helen for fostering with HBR and for adopting HUDSON! He is so lucky to have found his forever!

HAPPY TAILS: POPPY
HAPPY TAILS: POPPY aka Poppy Pig or Poppy a Go Go, Poppers!!!! Tammy adopted Poppy from HBR just over a year ago! As she celebrates her first Gotcha Day with our amazing HBR President and her family, we checked in to see just how well Poppy is fitting in! Tammy provided the following update: “Poppy is full of energy, she LOVES BALLS!! she will bring them home if we find one on our walk ( sorry to all the small children that are missing balls) . Poppy also loves her sister Paizley ( also from HBR) ! Poppy loves fruit and no smoothie can be made without sharing . Poppy also goes to doggy daycare once per week and is so happy to meet new friends!Poppy was fostered with two fosters and three human kids- funny enough Poppy thinks she is a boxer and rough houses like one ( she does not seem like a bulldog) and if we are walking she pulls to see all the kids! Poppy is also a lifeguard and will jump into the pool to “save her Dad” however she is a sinker not a swimmer so a lifejacket was quickly purchased for her! We have had no issues with Poppy at all as she had the most amazing foster family, her sister Paizley is quite smitten with her however her fur brother Eddie would be happy if she went back to her foster home.”When asked for some words of wisdom for potential adopters, Tammy said: “Talk to the foster family and find out as much as you can about the routine of the dog, and remember the 3-3-3 rule. It really takes three months for the adopted dog to feel comfortable and trust you. I am so thankful to HBR for allowing me to have Poppy as part of our family, she is definitely a character!”We are so happy to hear just how amazing Poppy is fitting in with her forever family! Thank you for choosing adoption!
