HBR received some sad news recently regarding the passing of an HBR alumni named Ruby. We are so sorry for your loss but are so grateful to know how loved Ruby was. Thank you, Pam, for sharing this beautiful tribute to Ruby and for giving her the life she so deserved. “We’ve fostered several dogs through homeward bound. Our very first foster was a pug by the name of Ruby who came from an Amish puppy mill. We ended up foster failing and we adopted her. Truthfully, she was supposed to be my dog, but she didn’t like me. She only had eyes for my husband. She would sit by the front door whenever my husband left, and wouldn’t leave until he came back home. Every time he went somewhere inside the house, she would follow him, even to the bathroom and sleep in his jeans lol. She wouldn’t listen to me if I was alone in the house and had to call her back from being outside. There were times the kids and I had to use flashlights to look for her in the backyard lol. She started experiencing heart failure two years ago, and we were told she wasn’t going to make it past Christmas of that year. But she did great. She bounced back to her old self, and when she got sick last week, We all thought she would get over it again……but sadly, she didn’t, and passed away at home in John’s arms. She adored my golden retriever Marley, always showed him affection by licking his ears and his eyes while he purred, she enjoyed skate boarding with my daughter Isabella, and snuggling with my son Quinn. She was the boss of all the dogs that we fostered over the years, and they knew it. She would snap at them if they got too close to John. She was truly a great dog, and we will miss her.”
Hector needs your Help
HBRs Hector (on medical hold) is enjoying the fresh air outdoors today Hector has many vet visits ahead of him which include a few different medications, baths and skin care. We are still working closely with our vets to see if a surgery for his tail is in his future. Hector will also need to be neutered. If you’re able to help with his medical costs, please do so at www.canadahelps.org
THANK YOU
Many thanks once again to Pet Valu Barrie Yonge St for FOUR trunk loads of donations (food, toys, coats, dishes & more) this month. Your thoughtfulness & generosity is always appreciated, even more so as we contend with no “live” fundraising due to COVID. Much appreciated!
