When Mya got too old to breed, she was discarded by her puppymill breeders. HBR saved her and gave her a loving home for nearly 3 years. It seems that she wasn't very social (like, not at all!) so HBR's volunteers put a lot of energy into teaching her that the world is not all bad. I've been told that she was a bit difficult to adopt out; maybe because of her age (she was 8 when we got her), her dislike of other cats/dogs/loud noises, or maybe her uncertainty around kids. I think it was just because she was waiting for us, her soul-humans. We've been her family for only 1 1/2 years now but it's like we were meant to be together. She enjoys these, her golden years, by sunbathing wherever there is sun, sitting on the knee of every guest who dares come to our home, taking leisurely walks to the mailbox and much more. She's got scars - physical and emotional, but, don't we all? ~ Jana, Mya's mom!
